How to Comment

Hello everyone, I hope day two of the lock down is going well.  Please take a look at this short video showing you how to comment.  It would be great to get comments from children and families.  You can make a comment on the post itself or comment about some of the work your child has done in response to a post.

The children love to have comments from family, so feel free to pass the blog address onto family around NZ and the world so they can comment on Room 12's work too.

You can also take a look at our how to comment page to get some ideas about what to write.

Puppet Theatre

Last week the students in Room 12 became very interested in puppet theatre. We used stick puppets to act out our poem of the week 'Incy Wincy Spider'.  You can recreate this at home using any available toys.  The children could create their own story or retell one they already know.  It's also a great way to keep younger siblings entertained!

Spelling Practice

Wally has been working hard on spelling some of the high frequency words.  Since he's at home he had to get creative and use knives and forks to spell out words.  Can you tell what word Wally has spelt?  Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

You can find things in your home to help you practice spelling your high frequency words.  You'll find the words glued in the back of your homework book.  If you don't have a homework book you can go here and choose an appropriate list for your child.

Wally

Wally has left school, he is going to live with Miss Mac over the lock down period.  Do you have any suggestions for what he could do to keep from getting bored? Leave a comment with your name to give him your ideas.

Bubble Bubble Read by Alizaye

Last week the Kakapo reading group was practicing reading with fluency.  They learnt how to use the ipad to record themselves reading poems aloud.

Here is a video of Alizaye reading Bubble Bubble, recorded by Nathaniel.  It was the first time they had worked together to record poetry readings.  Please watch it and have a think about the following questions:

1.What do you think they did well?
2.What could they do differently next time?

Learning Sight Words

Demetrius has been working hard on his knowledge of sight words.  On Wednesday he worked independently to write is, a, the in playdough.  Well done Demetrius, keep up the good work.
